Celebrating the Solstice
Summer Solstice

Sons of Norway members celebrated midsummer solstice with food, music and a bonfire. Norwegians love a good party in June, when the earth’s axis tilts the northern hemisphere close to the sun, when days are long and hot and gardens are growing. Norwegian meatballs and rice pudding topped with Ligonberry preserves were served in Sheri Novak’s kitchen. Rosalie Huntington and Ron Kittleson sang historic European songs. Richard Novak lit a roaring bonfire. Everyone watched the flames while fireflies lit up the field after dark.
