PLATTEVILLE — The Wisconsin Catholic Daughters of the America’s celebrated their 50th Biennial Convention April 13-15 in Platteville, Wisconsin.
It began with a pre-convention tour to trace the journey of Father Samuel Mazzuchelli going to Dominican Sinsinawa Mound, St. Augustine Church in New Diggings and St. Patrick Church and Burial Site in Benton. Meetings, daily mass, speakers and programs filled the days. Court Cuba City No. 4 and Court Mazzuchelli No. 2609 of Monroe were co-hosts of the convention in Platteville.
Installation of newly elected officers took place during Mass on Saturday followed by a luncheon.
Newly installed officers for CDA Wisconsin include:
● State Regent Ruth Busch, Cuba City
● National Director Mary Impellizari, New York
● State Chaplain Dave Flanagan, Cuba City
● State First Vice State Regent Lisa Polnow, Monroe
● State Second Vice State Regent Jolene Van Dyk, Monroe
● State Secretary Bernice Lansing, La Crosse
Honored for 75 years as a member at the program was Isabelle Leahy Doyle, who joined the Catholic Daughters of the Americas on June 19, 1948 in Darlington. She transferred to the Shullsburg Court on October 8, 1949. Currently she is a CDA member of Cuba City Court No. 4.
Isabelle attended the CDA Wisconsin Convention Installation Mass, Luncheon and Program with her daughters Belle and Colleen. A crystal cross and a 75 year CDA pin was presented to her. Each CDA member present was gifted a ‘mug rug’ (coaster) quilted by Isabelle and crafted by Belle which on the bottom fabric was printed ‘The Serenity Prayer’, Isabelle’s name, and the date she joined CDA.
On June 6, 1924 Isabelle will celebrate her 99th birthday.
