Cadiz Springs park wins a gold seal

GREEN BAY - Cadiz Springs Recreation Park was one of 10 state parks presented with a Gold Seal Award from the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks, from a group of more than 64 state parks and 39 state trails around the State.

The park was awarded during the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks annual meeting Oct. 12 at Heritage Hill State Historical Park, Green Bay. More than 85 Friends of the Park members attended the event from throughout the state, including Bryan and Sharon Buri, members of The Friends of Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area; naturalist Jane Wiley; and acting Department of Natural Resources Section Secretary Cathy Stepp.

Cadiz Springs won the award for "Best Pond for Aquatic Viewing."

In addition to the Gold Seal award, Cadiz Springs was also one of 12 Friends of the Park Group winners in the 2012 Park photo contest for the 2013 Friends of Wisconsin State Parks Calendar. Cadiz Spring Friends Group member Diane Gavand's winning entry will appear in the 2013 Calendar for the month of February.
