GREEN COUNTY - Sugar River Banks and The Bank of New Glarus are sponsoring a food drive for the Green County Food Pantry. In cooperation with WEKZ, The Monroe Times and Independent Register in Brodhead, collection points are set up around the greater Green County community.
Suggested items include non-perishable goods such as boxed meals, soups, canned fruits and vegetables, cake and brownie mixes, gelatin and pudding mixes, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, pancake mix and syrup, and personal care items.
In addition to coordinating the food drive, Sugar River Banks and The Bank of New Glarus will donate the equivalent of 1,500 pounds of food to help stock the shelves at the food pantry.
"Our employees and customers have always been very generous supporting this worthwhile endeavor," said Shelly Petit-Baum, manager at Sugar River Bank, Monroe.
In Belleville and New Glarus, contributions are also being accepted at the banks for local food pantries conducted at Belleville Food Pantry and the Community Christian Ministries.
Faye Nolden, manager at Sugar River Bank-Belleville adds, "It's important to support our local community as well as the Green County Food Pantry. Both serve an important need."
Donations for the food pantry can be dropped off at any of the Sugar River Banks in Monroe, Juda, Brodhead, or Belleville. The Monroe Times and Independent Register will also collect donations.
