MONROE - The Monroe campus of Blackhawk Technical College will pay tribute to Women's History Month by showing a documentary titled "Umoja: No Men Allowed."

"Umoja: No Men Allowed" is the story of tribeswomen who establish a women-only village in northern Kenya after they were banished from their village by their husbands in the tribe's oppressive patriarchal system. The 32-minute documentary illustrates how these women reclaim their lives in a village that won't allow men.

The documentary will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20 in room 413 on the Monroe Campus. A second showing will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the Beloit Center.

BTC will also show "Belfast Girls" at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Central Campus in Janesville. The 58-minute film shows how two young women - one Protestant and the other Catholic - overcome the so-called "peace walls' of Belfast to forge a relationship that crosses the bridge that has separated Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland.

"Forbidden Voices: How to Start a Revolution with a Computer," a 96-minute film showing how powerful a tool the Internet is in societies where the written word is often suppressed and/or censored, will be shown at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the Central Campus.
