MONROE - Area residents have the opportunity to access information to assist them in a variety of ways. The Blackhawk Technical College Monroe Campus has classes coming up which can assist in improving skills for job enhancement, career advancement, or personal improvement and enrichment. Some classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Sign Language Beginning: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 10 sessions - The course teaches American Sign Language and assists in bridging the communication gap between the hearing and non-hearing. The course focuses on practicing signing techniques at the beginning level.
Welding/Open: 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, eight sessions at Monroe High School - This class allows participants to upgrade skills with individualized instruction in the principles of welding techniques and the processes related to various materials, with an emphasis on safety. Class size is limited and only a few spaces remain for this class.
Excel/Beginning: 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, five sessions - Learn to use this popular spreadsheet to create, enter, and store data, as well as setting up formulas and printing spreadsheets.
Computer for Absolute Beginner: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, five sessions - This absolutely non-threatening class offers exposure to the hardware, software, terminology and functions of the personal computer for persons with little or no previous computer knowledge.
All classes are held at the BTC Monroe Campus unless otherwise noted.
