BROOKLYN - A ribbon cutting ceremony to start the project of the proposed Brooklyn Area Veterans Memorial will be held at 1 p.m. May 24.

Brooklyn Area Veterans Committee has been working on developing a monument to honor and recognize all veterans and their families from 1812 to current.

The proposed Brooklyn Area Veterans Memorial will be on the West side of Brooklyn, near Brooklyn Town Hall, across from the Brooklyn Area Fire Department. The property has been donated by the Charles Teeter family and the Town of Brooklyn.

Fund drive activities have been going on for over a year. Businesses, citizens, organizations and the American Legion Post #160 have raised over 77 percent of the project budget.

The Brooklyn Area Memorial Committee has been working on design, engineering and logistics in an effort to provide a masterpiece, which reflects the community, veterans and families.

A copy of the program will be made available at www.brooklyareaveteransmemorial.net. For more information, call 608-516-5401.
