MONROE - The local Monroe branch of the Wisconsin Bookworm Project will hold a fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Monroe Moose Hall, 639 3rd Ave.

The organization is made up of volunteers. They recently presented their first reading session to a group of students at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy. The book chosen was "Bearobics" by Vic Parker. The children danced, did aerobics and received their own book, book bag, and hand-crocheted book marks, which were made by a local 4-H group.

Once a month, from October to May, the group reads to the Head Start room at Abe Lincoln in 45-minute sessions.

The organization is still looking for volunteers or donations to help cover the cost of books. A set of eight books costs $23.

More information is available by calling Jane Kash at (608) 558-2448 or the UW-Extension office at (608) 325-4990.
