Blue ribbon livestock fair auction a success

WEST ALLIS — Wisconsin State Fair Officials and members of the Blue Ribbon Sale of Champions Foundation are pleased to announce that the annual Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction on Aug. 8 at the 2018 Wisconsin State Fair was a success. The evening raised a total of $316,800.

Bucky Badger and the Echoes of Camp Randall Marching Band once again kicked things off at the Case IH Coliseum and set the tone for an exciting night. Bigging commenced with Governor Walker auctioning off the Grand Champion Steer (Crossbred) exhibited by Reid Runkel of Burlington in Racine County. The 1,325 -pound steer sold for $47,500 with the winning bid from Meijer. 

The auction recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Wisconsin’s youth exhibitors. Local winners included: 

Champion Shorthorn Steer exhibited by Lauren Jones of Lafayette County; Winning bid of $8,500 by Walmart and Great Lakes Coca-Cola.
