Blood drive surpasses goal

SOUTH WAYNE - Six new donors and a good turnout made the visit of the Red Cross Blood Drive at Black Hawk School on Jan. 10 a success. Thirty five potential donors presented, seven were deferred, one gave double through Hemostatics, making the total of pints 29, which surpassed the goal of 25.

First time donors were: Brittany Dubel, Kelly Metz, Dani Hagen, Crystal Rasch, Kendra Bunnell and Elenor Gille. Meeting the One Gallon mark was Bonnie Gordon. Other donors were Carol Seffrood, Richard Fernstaedt, Kevin Baker, Lucas Stietz, Kim Hull, Al Mau, James F. Stietz, Jorden Rupnow, Tom Welnitz, Gerald Stietz, Jack Hagen, Katie Brummel, Baily McGowan, Megan Vosberg, Caitlin Bird, Larry Burkhalter, Bret Whalen, Carol Ruegsegger, Steve Ruegsegger, Vernon Gille, Kent Meier, Tim Stauffer, Gary Burns, Carol Meier, Connie Meier, Laurie Monson, and Emily Herbst.

Donating to the Canteen were: Village Inn, cheese and sausage; South Wayne Mart, milk; Joyce Paulson, sandwiches; and CCW of St. John's Catholic Church, sandwiches and cookies. Those donating were: Mary Lou Pickett, Carol Seffrood, Jane Crotty, Bert Haldiman, Rosann Markese and Connie Meier. The next drive for South Wayne is May 11.
