Blood drive surpasses goal of getting 30 units

SOUTH WAYNE - The American Red Cross bloodmobile collected six units above the goal of 30 on Jan. 27 at Black Hawk High School in South Wayne. Thirty-eight potential donors presented, three were deferred and one gave a double up.

Donors reaching specific gallon marks were: Richard Fernstaedt, 17 gallons; Frank Goonan, 9 gallons; Edwin Ernst, 7 gallons; Kent Meier, 5 gallons; Tommy Meier, 2 gallons; Mary Hanson, 2 gallons; and Lucas Stietz, 1 gallon.

Donors were: Ancil Norland, Tom Wellnitz, Bonnie Gordon, Ellen Rogers, Connie Meier, Ida White, Cheryl Dale, Jack Hagen, Grant Dale, Harry Mau, Allen Mau, Larry Burkhalter, Carol Meier, Greg Seffrood, Jack Pillow, Laura Toerck, Mike Toerck, Stephen Ruegsegger, Gerald Stietz, Carol Ruegsegger, Randy Mau, Carol Signer, David Eckerman, Mary McKnight, Crystal Rasch, Kyle Stauffacher and Grant Roper.

First time donors were Blake Wand, Ben Stauffacher, Elizabeth Werren and Cassie Jorgenson.

Canteen donors were: juice, JD's One Stop; crackers and milk, Pick "n Save; sandwiches, St. John's Catholic Church; cheese, Valley View Cheese; sandwiches, Joyce Paulson; cookies and sausage, Connie Meier. Workers were Susan Junk, Loretta Brummel, Joyce Paulson and Connie Meier.
