Black Hawk sees local professionals for career day event

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk Middle School and High School held its career day on April 2. Twelve professionals from southwest Wisconsin spoke to the Black Hawk students about their career choices and their personal journey to their current position. The students rotated through five sessions to learn about the professional requirements and character traits that have made these individuals successful.

The headline speaker at this year's career day was Dr. Carrie Shippy of Darlington Chiropractic Clinic. Shippy is a 2004 graduate of Black Hawk High School and spoke to the student body on the importance of perseverance and on working hard in whatever endeavor they choose.

Individuals and businesses who participated in the event include: Tim Quinn, senior business development manager at SAFC Inc.; Duane Jorgenson, Duane Jorgenson Law Office; Wendy Flanagan, graphic design at RBS Activewear; Michelle Huschitt, oncology nurse at Monroe Clinic; Jesse Jorgenson and Kate Benning, athletic trainers at Monroe Clinic; Jason Tyson, computer networking for TC Networks Inc.; Nate Chappel, video production and video editing at Wolfout Productions; Jason Wagner, strength and conditioning coach at UW-Platteville; Deputy Stecklein and Deputy Sheriff Norder with K-9 Cody of Lafayette County Sheriff's Department; Alice Siedschlag; human resources at Colony Brands Inc.; Greg Wubben, autobody collision repair at Southwest Technical College.
