Black Hawk forensics team wraps up season

GRATIOT - The Black Hawk forensic team ended its season by participating in the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association (WHSFA) state festival Friday, April 20 and the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association (WFCA) state tournament Saturday, April 21.

Earning gold ratings with perfect scores of 25 at the WHSFA festival in Madison were Connor Moore, 4-minute speech; Kate Quinn, poetry; Mike Powers, 4-minute speech; and Justin Wiegel, radio speaking. Earning silver ratings, a score of 23 or 24, were Marissa Monson, moments in history; Jevon Tuescher and Meshell Akins, play-acting; Tessa Cushman and Kristen Walters, group interpretive reading; and Jordan Monson, Tayler Rupnow and Blaine Wolff, group interpretive reading. Receiving bronze ratings, a score of 20 or 22, were Aaron Monson, radio speaking; Michaela Akins, poetry; and Leane Dammen, prose.

At the WFCA tournament in Ripon, Connor Moore advanced to the semi-final round, and place 14 out of 41 other speakers. The team placed sixth overall in Division 3.
