BELLEVILLE - The School District of Belleville celebrated Project Lead the Way Day March 2 at the state Capitol.

This annual event brings together students, educators, business leaders and policymakers from across the state who are passionate about learning, discovery and innovation.

The gathering is an opportunity to see students' work first-hand, celebrate student achievement and unite for conversation, collaboration and problem-solving around education and workforce development challenges that are being faced as a state and nation. This year's program featured nine schools from around the state. Students showcased their PLTW projects in PLTW Launch (grades K-5), PLTW Gateway (grades 6-8) and the three high school programs (PLTW Computer Science, PLTW Engineering and PLTW Biomedical Science). Representing the school district were Owen Griffen, Jackson Fahey, Jacob Jenkins, Noah Niesen and Julia McNamar. Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch stopped by the SDB booth before she gave a speech congratulating all the participants and encouraging them to keep working hard in the fields of math, science, technology and engineering.
