MONROE - The Behring Senior Center, 1113 10th St., Monroe, has several programs, activities and classes lined up for July and beyond. People must be age 55 and older to participate in senior center activities.
Programs and activities
The Veteran's Monthly Breakfast will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for all veterans and spouses ages 55 and above. There is a suggested $2 donation.
"Life's a Daring Adventure" summer program series begins at 1:30 p.m. July 11. Mary Helen Conroy will talk about her first series, "Life's a daring adventure, and I'm not done yet. Are you?" This is a free three-part series.
An AARP Driver's Safety Class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Those presenting an AARP card will get a discount. Payment to the instructor is due the day of the class.
The memoir of Vivian Probst will be shared at 1:30 p.m. July 18. The memoir is candid and full of humor from an unflappable woman who spent much of her life hiding out. This event is free.
A men's day trip is planned to tour the state Capitol. The bus will leave the senior center at 10:45 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. July 31. The cost of $10 is for the bus only. The group will stop at Toffler's in New Glarus for lunch at each person's expense, then proceed to the Capitol for a 55-minute walking tour.
Grandchildren will be welcome for a day of fun with crafts, games and lunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25 at the senior center. The cost is $10 each.
Randy Kiel will perform old-time, Big Band and swing music at 1:30 p.m. July 26 in the senior center gym. Seating is limited and registration is required.
There will be a special presentation for veterans and their spouses from 10 to 11:30 a.m. July 27 at the Behring Senior Center. The guest speaker will be VA-accredited attorney Douglas Ley, who will discuss facts and how to maximize VA benefits. Seating is limited; call the senior center to reserve a seat.
Behring Senior Center's eighth annual golf scramble game will start at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 at Edelweiss Chalet Golf Club in New Glarus. The cost is $25 for nine holes with a cart. The luncheon is $9. Call 608-325-3173 or 608-325-8891 to sign up.
An "Off the Beaten Path" trip will depart the senior center at 7:45 a.m. Oct. 24 and return at 5 p.m. The cost is $46, with a $23 deposit. Some of the hidden gems of Grant and Iowa counties will be explored, with a buffet lunch at the Castle Rock Inn.

Facebook Basics Class will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and July 7 using the computers in the computer lab. The cost is $12. Only eight spots are available, so call and sign up.
An Absolute Beginner Computer Class will be from 10 a.m. to noon July 11. The cost is $12.
A Jewelry Class will be offered at 1 p.m. July 24. The cost is $20. Three necklaces with pendants, charms and accessories will be made. Class size is limited to eight people.
