Beekeeping workshop in New Glarus

NEW GLARUS — Dan Ziehli, Wisconsin State Bee Inspector, and the Sugar River Beekeepers will host a free Beekeeping Basics Workshop at the Town of New Glarus Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21 in the Town of New Glarus Hall, 26 5th Ave. This is for beginners. 

Learning includes: Honey bee hive types and what the beekeeper is best suited for, what questions to ask when purchasing honey bees and equipment, current beekeeping laws, proper queen installation and honey bee pest and disease identification.

There will also be hands-on exercises to learn package installation, mixing feeds and proper medication application.

This workshop is free and open to the public. No food will be provided; guests may bring their own lunch. Register online on the Sugar River Beekeepers page on Facebook or contact Tom Wolf at twolf42@gmail.com.
