NEW GLARUS — The Bank of New Glarus, a leading financial institution in Green, Dane, and Lafayette Counties, along with its holding company, Bancorp of New Glarus, Inc., announced last week significant changes to both The Bank of New Glarus’s Board of Directors and Bancorp of New Glarus, Inc.’s Board.

Greg Engen will retire from the Board of Directors effective December 31, 2025. Engen’s remarkable career spans 39 years with the Bank, including 14 years as a Board member. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in guiding the Bank’s growth and expansion, particularly through his leadership on loan committee. His experience as a lender and his dedication as Board Director have left a lasting impact on the organization and his presence will be missed.

“It’s been a pleasure serving with Engen on the Bank’s board for all these years,” said Ron Schaaf, President/CEO of The Bank of New Glarus. “He is a measured and prudent decision maker. He remains accountable for his sound credit decisions and is a loyal representative of our Bank. We wish him all the best in his retirement.

The Bank of New Glarus welcomes John Knellwolf to its Board of Directors.

“For some time, we have wanted a representative from Lafayette County, and John is an outstanding choice to fill that role. With extensive experience in the banking industry, he will serve as a strong voice for the community — a priority since our merger with First National Bank at Darlington. John’s appointment achieves both objectives; strengthening our connection to Lafayette County and reinforcing our commitment to serving all communities within our footprint,” Schaaf said.

The Bank of New Glarus was established in 1892 and is headquartered in New Glarus. The Bank has branch offices located in Belleville, Brodhead, Darlington, Gratiot, Juda and Monroe and a loan production office located in Madison. As the largest deposit bank in Green and Lafayette Counties, it offers a full range of financial products and services including personal banking, business banking, and wealth management. Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.
