MONROE - The Monroe community is invited to take a walk in the shoes of someone with dementia. Azura Memory Care is hosting The Virtual Dementia Tour, a free, internationally-recognized sensory experience, from 1 to 3 p.m. March 3 at the United Methodist Church, 2227 4th St., Monroe.

The Virtual Dementia Tour uses educational resources and sensory stimulation to provide family and professional caregivers a way to experience the challenges faced by those living with dementia. Created by Second Wind Dreams, the Virtual Dementia Tour is scientifically proven to increase knowledge and understanding of those caring for individuals with dementia.

Lindsay Scholz, director of community relations for Azura Memory Care, will provide the tour and presentation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the tour specialists, don patented devices that alter their senses and be given tasks and an adapted environment which allows them to experience the physical and mental challenges those with dementia face every day.

Call the United Methodist Church at 608-325-6700 to reserve a Virtual Dementia Tour spot; reservations are limited.
