MONROE - Minda Powers-Douglas, Moline, Ill., will present a workshop on tombstone rubbings and cemetery art from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Union Presbyterian Church, 2707 5th St., Monroe.
Powers-Douglas is the author of several books including "Cemetery Walk, A Journey into the Art, History and Society of the Cemetery," and is editor in chief of Epitaphs magazine. The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13.
The morning session will be held at Union Presbyterian Church and the afternoon session will be a hands on session at Greenwood Cemetery.
The cost of the workshop is $35 which includes lunch and morning coffee and donuts.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. A rubbing materials kit will be available for purchase for those who do not have their own supplies.
The workshop is open to all who are interested and is sponsored by the Green County Genealogical Society.
