Auction to combat illness

NEW GLARUS - In conjunction with its annual outdoor worship service, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will hold a silent auction at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Argue-Ment Golf Course, N9603 Argue Road.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Green County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The silent auction will be held after the worship and end at about 12:15 p.m. The congregation will also host a potluck meal following the worship. In case of rain, all events will be moved to the church.

Those who participate in the bidding do not need to be present to win. Pre-bidding started Sunday, Aug. 18, at the church, 506 12th Ave.

The annual outdoor worship service was created to help the congregation reclaim their sanctuary as a place of life and hope, after a tragic event. The congregation has brought in speakers, from as close as New Glarus and as far as Minneapolis, with experience helping people and congregations deal with the effects of mental illness and suicide.
