ORANGEVILLE - The Northwest Illinois Forage and Grassland Council will hold a hay and straw auction at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boco in Orangeville. The auction is being run by Cal Shaver Auctions, who will not be charging a commission.

Money raised in the auction will be donated to help the families of those who suffered losses in the recent wildfires in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The council will also use the funds to buy and donate 33,000 fencepost staples made in Shannon, Illinois.

The council has received donations to help pay for the fuel for a trucker to take one load of hay south. So far, $4,500 has been raised.
