FREEPORT - The Stephenson County Museum Association announces June 13 as Stephenson County Museum Day. This annual event showcases the museums of Stephenson County and offers the public the opportunity to visit the participating museums free of charge.
The 2009 participating museums include the Cedarville Historical Museum, German Valley Historical Museum, Lena Area Historical Museum, McConnell Area Historical Society Museum, Silvercreek Museum, and the Stephenson County Historical Society Museum. The hours the museums will be open vary by museum, but all are open in the afternoon hours.
Each museum will feature its own regular exhibit, but, for Museum Day, several of the museums are also showcasing something special. The Cedarville Museum will feature special exhibits on Red Oak, Scioto Mills, Damascus and Buena Vista. The Lena Museum will feature displays on the military including photos, uniforms and flags. At McConnell, a special photo identification of old area photos will be held.
For more information on Museum Day, contact the Freeport/Stephenson County Convention and Visitors Bureau at (815) 233-1357.
