MONTICELLO - Former resident Michael Affolter will return to Green County and show his art publicly for the first time at the Monticello Spring Fling on Saturday.

Affolter grew up in Juda and lived in Monroe and New Glarus. His banking and real estate career took him to other Wisconsin communities and Phoenix, Arizona, where he retired in 2011. He recently returned to Wisconsin and now resides in Winneconne.

Affolter's love for art dates to his early childhood, but he did not pursue it in earnest until three years ago, when he began to paint. He is self-taught and his works range in styles from realism to abstract. His subjects include wildlife, iconic Wisconsin landmarks and buildings, still life, whimsical characters and portraits.

Affolter will be displaying more than 30 paintings at the event.
