SOUTH WAYNE

Black Hawk grad wins scholarship

SOUTH WAYNE - AGCO, a worldwide distributor and manufacturer of agricultural equipment, is the sponsor of a National FFA Collegiate Scholarship awarded to Thomas Butts, Black Hawk High School in South Wayne. Butts is one of 18 outstanding FFA members to receive a scholarship sponsored by AGCO and AGCO Finance, says Doug Griffin, vice president, North American Marketing, AGCO Corporation and a member of the FFA Foundation Sponsors Board.

Scholarships were provided through the 2009-10 FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program.

Thomas is the son of Randall Butts and Jayne Butts, both of Browntown. He is now a student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, with plans to major in Agricultural Engineering.

Orangeville

Free Thanksgiving dinner planned

ORANGEVILLE - There will be a Community-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner from noon to 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 at the Orangeville United Methodist Church.

There will be no charge for this dinner and is be open to the public. There will be free transportation to and from the church for those living in Orangeville. If you cannot attend and would like a dinner delivered, please contact the Orangeville United Methodist Church at (815) 789-3170 to schedule a delivery time.

AFOLKEY

Church plans chili supper Nov. 20

AFOLKEY - There will be an all-you-can-eat chili supper from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Afolkey Bethel United Methodist Church. The menu will include chili, vegetable soup, cheese, crackers, applesauce, homemade pie, and cake with coffee and milk. The cost for adults is $6; ages 4 to 12, $4; and free 3 and under.

Orangeville

Harvest Bazaar slated for Nov. 13

ORANGEVILLE - The Orangeville United Methodist Church will hold a Harvest Bazaar, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13. Various items will be featured such as baby quilts, toys, frozen mincemeat, embroidery works, rugs, holiday items, baked goods, jellies, pickles, and baked goods. Coffee and rolls will be served at 9:30 a.m. and a luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The church is located on Church Street in Orangeville.

Albany

Albany to host chili supper is Nov. 7

ALBANY - The Albany United Methodist Church will host a chili supper from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Albany Lions building, 402 N. Cincinnati St.

The menu will include chili with toppings or chicken noodle soup, fresh bread, desserts, milk and coffee. Cost is $5 for ages 6 to adult; $2 for ages 3 to 5; and free for ages 2 and under.
