Inventors meeting slated for Oct. 3
MONROE - The Green County Area Entrepreneurs and Inventors will hold a meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at First National Bank & Trust's lower level conference room, 1625 10th St., Monroe. The meeting will feature Scott Thompson, co-owner of WEKZ radio, presenting "It's in the Message," a presentation to help business owners determine who their prime customers are and how to reach them in the most cost-effective manner.
The meeting is free and open to the public.

BH blood drive hits above pint goal
SOUTH WAYNE - Twenty-eight potential donors presented at the blood drive held at Black Hawk High School on Sept. 16, and 26 pints were collected. The goal for the drive was 20 pints.
First-time donor was Taime Paul, and Caroline Seffrood reached the 4-gallon mark. Other donors were Roger Vickers, Carol Meier, Lee Melland, Ellen Rogers, Jack Hagen, Robert Hull, Loretta Brummel, Kelly Metz, Alex Getch, Matthew Linares, Candance Linares, Kim Hull, Carol Ruegsegger, Elenor Gille, Vernon Gille, Jim Meier, Gary Burns, Chuck Wick, Cheryl Dale, Grant Dale, Gerald Stietz, Lonnie Stauffer, Bennie Gordon, Allen Melland, Ed Ernst and Kendra Brunnel.
Donating to the canteen were Valley View, cheese; JD's One Stop, milk; Pick "N Save, sausage; Sharon Metz and Bert Haldiman (St. John's Catholic church), sandwiches; Joyce Paulson, sandwiches; Pat Baumgartner, cookies; and Loretta Brummel, half and half.
Workers were Joyce Paulson, Loretta Brummel and Lee Melland. Coordinator of the event was Connie Meier.

Community blood drive set for Oct. 14
MONTICELLO - The Monticello Community Blood Drive will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello.
A blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health may be eligible to donate blood.
