Monroe

City band looking for new members

MONROE - The Monroe City Band will rehearse Monday Sept. 6 and Monday Sept. 13 in preparation for the Cheese Days Concert.

The band will rehearse at 7:30 p.m. each day in the Monroe Middle School Band Room.

New members are be welcome, but percussionists and trumpeters are the greatest need in the band's membership.

South Wayne

Red Cross blood drive is Sept. 10

SOUTH WAYNE - A Red Cross Blood Drive will be at Black Hawk High School in South Wayne from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.

In appreciation of generous Red Cross donors, from Aug. 30 through Sept. 10, all presenting will be eligible to win a $500 gas card and every presenting donor will receive a complimentary Red Cross Racing-themed can cooler. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Parents are asked to encourage their children to give blood. Statistics show that if they begin giving at an early age, they will continue to give throughout life. New donors should bring a photo identification; past donors should bring their donor card. To make an appointment, call 1-800-Red Cross.

Sunday School Rally is Sept. 12

JUDA - Juda-Zion United Methodist Church is having its Sunday School Rally Day at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 12. Participants can register their children, take part in the balloon release and enjoy some snacks.

Zion offers Sunday School classes beginning with children age 3 in the nursery all the way up to adult Sunday School class. Classes meet from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and begin Sept. 26. Call the church office at 934-5398 or e-mail joumc@wisconsinumc.org for more information.

ORANGEVILLE

Madrigal rehearsals to begin Tuesday

ORANGEVILLE - Beginning Tuesday, the Mighty Richland Players, Orangeville, will begin rehearsals for their annual Madrigal, to be performed Nov. 28-30 at the Mighty Richland Players Theater in Orangeville.

Anyone interested in singing is invited. No one will be turned away. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Tuesdays beginning at 6 p.m. More information is available by emailing jcbuford@aol.com or calling (8015) 819-1310.
