Genealogical meeting is Aug. 7
MONROE - The Green County Genealogical Society will meet 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave., Monroe.
Matt Figi will speak on the holdings at the Green County Historical Society and how to get the help needed to access them.
A short business meeting will address fall meetings, the research center, ongoing projects and computer issues. Refreshments and a social hour will follow the meeting.

Janesville
German group to meet on Aug. 2
JANESVILLE - The German Interest Group will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2921 Mt. Zion Ave., Janesville.
Jody Glynn Patrick will be the guest speaker. Her lecture will be "Getting over Brick Walls" in genealogical research. Starting with 32 known family names, she was able to build a database of over 30,000 entries for her family.
Glynn Patrick is publisher of "In Business" magazine, a radio show talk host, has received numerous journalism awards and provides professional genealogical research and historical biographical writing. The meeting is free. For more information contact Rick Leyes at (608) 754-5538.

Lafayette County Dems to meet
DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Democratic Party will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at its new office. The office location is the building formerly occupied by the Amcore Bank, next to Craig Hardware in the Piggly Wiggly Plaza, Darlington. The meeting is open to the public. Ideas for the campaign for the fall election will be discussed, plus those who attended the state party convention will give a report.
