WCB to host brat day on July 23
MONROE - Wisconsin Community Bank hosts a brat day from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, in the WCB parking lot, 1717 10th St., Monroe.
Cost is $2 brat only or $3 for a brat, soda and chips.
All proceeds benefit the Homeless Prevention Coalition of Green County, serving the needs of Green County residents who are experiencing the loss of their home and the accompanying loss of security and self-worth. Working in cooperation with Southwest Community Action Program.

MHS Class of 1970 plans its reunion
MONROE - The Monroe High School class of 1970 will hold its 40-year class reunion on Saturday, July 31, at the American Legion club in Monroe.
The class is still looking for many classmates. For more information, to help locate a classmate, or information on reservations and payment, call Sandra Irvin at (813) 926-8539.

Canoe, kayak races planned for Sunday
LENA - The Lena Community Park District and Friends of the Pecatonica River Foundation will host the third annual Illinois Paddling Council-sanctioned canoe and kayak races on July 18 at McConnell's "Bobtown" Landing. There is a pro-series race of 13.74 miles from McConnell to Winslow's Brewster Landing and back and an amateur-series race of 6 miles from McConnell to a turn-around 3 miles upriver and back. There are 42 race entry categories. Last year, winners completed the 10-mile course in less than one hour.

MONROE - An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 19, at the United Methodist Church, 2227 4th St., Monroe. No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome.

UMC to host ice cream social
BRODHEAD - The Brodhead United Methodist Church will have its annual ice cream social on Saturday, July 31, in Fellowship Hall.
Serving will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or until all have been served.
The event is open to the public.
