MHS orientation slated for Feb. 7

MONROE - Monroe High School is hosting an eighth-grade orientation from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7. All current eighth-graders and their families are invited to attend. The evening will welcome eighth-grade students and their families and an overview as to what Monroe High School has to offer. To begin the evening in the PAC, Principal Rick Waski will explain the Aligned by Design curricular model.

Then, families are encouraged to stop at the help table (by the PAC) for registration help, walk about the building to talk with teachers and see classrooms and stop at Student Services learn about registration, testing and post-secondary options. They can also visit Special Education for answers on IEPs and other information and learn about freshmen activities and clubs at tables by related classrooms.

A letter explaining the details of eighth-grade orientation and a copy of the brochure have been mailed. For more information, call MHS 328-7822.

Wrestling event planned by city

MONROE - A Wrestling with the Cheesemakers event will be 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28 at the Monroe High School Gym. The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will take registration for the event through Jan. 27.

The program is for participants from kindergarten to eighth grade. It will include wrestling techniques, moves, and drills demonstrated by the MHS wrestlers. The cost is $6, which includes a Campion Champion T-shirt for the first 30 participants. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation Department.
