Optimist spaghetti dinner is on March 9
MONROE - The Monroe Junior Optimist club is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 9 at the Monroe Middle School, 1510 13th St.
The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for ages 17 and younger.
Menu includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert and beverages. Music entertainment will be provided.
A talent show will follow the dinner at 7 p.m.

Monroe Fund now taking applications
MONROE - The Monroe Fund is now accepting grant applications. Applications for the fund must be received by 4 p.m. on Monday, April 16.
The Monroe Fund is accepting applications for projects that serve the greater Monroe area. Projects may include enhancement of parks and public spaces, historic and cultural preservation, youth activities and facilities, education, the arts, and health and human services. Applications are accepted from non-profit organizations only. Requests from individuals for personal projects or needs are not allowed under the federal tax laws.
The fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
To access the application forms for the fund, visit the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin website at www.cfsw.org and click on the "Open Grant Applications" page.
Applications for both funds should be mailed to the Monroe Fund, P.O. Box 733, Monroe, WI 53566.
Successful applicants will be notified the end of May.

Booster Club tailgate supper is on March 1
SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk Booster Club is hosing a tailgate supper from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Black Hawk High School lower commons, 202 East Center St.
The cost is $5 per person. All proceeds go to support Black Hawk athletics and arts.

MONROE - The Monroe Public Library is now accepting applications for local authors to take part in the upcoming Green County Writers Showcase on Saturday, April 21 at the library, 925 16th Ave.
The free event will give local authors an opportunity to talk with the community about their work, network with other local authors and sell their books.
Applications are due by Wednesday, Feb. 29. Accepted participants will be notified by Wednesday, March 7.
