Genealogy research lecture is March 3

MONROE - Green County Genealogical Society will host the McConnell Area Historical Society treasurer at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3 in the upper level of the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave.

Robin Weber Pardus will speak on "My Personal Genealogy Research" and the McConnell, Ill. Museum and Genealogy Room.

Pardus, McConnell, Ill., is originally from Henry County, Ill. and has been a genealogist for more than 20 years, when her interest began with a high school class project. She uses the Family Tree Maker program and has found that she is related to some well known people.

Besides her own genealogy, she is very interested in history, both Henry County, Ill., and the McConnell, Ill., area. Working closely with other genealogy societies, she has photographed all the tombstones in the Town of Waddams, had databases made for all the cemeteries, and is collecting obituaries to go with the databases. As Basswood Cemetery secretary/historian, she published a book for them which is sold to raise money to help with mowing costs.
