Juda

Jan. 21 blood drive exceeds unit goal

JUDA - With the help of Juda students, teachers and community members, the first blood drive took place at the Juda School on t Monday, Jan. 21.

The blood drive collected 43 units of blood, exceeding the goal of 30 units. The amount collected could save up to 129 lives.

Albany

Hist. Society meeting is Feb. 21

ALBANY - The Albany Historical Society will present "Show and Tell" as the topic for the Tuesday, Feb. 21 meeting, at the museum, 119 N. Water St.

A short business meeting at 7 p.m. will precede the program.

The program was rescheduled due to the cancellation of its meeting Jan. 17 meeting.

Guest speakers will be members and visitors presenting stories of items, hobbies, photographs, family histories, and more of local and/or historical interest.

Anyone is welcome to participate and visitors are welcomed. Refreshments will be served.

Monroe

Venture Crew 1812 dinner is Tuesday

MONROE - Venture Crew 1812 is having a chili and baked potato dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Union Presbyterian Church, 2707 5th St.

The Scouts will be serving homemade chili and baked potatoes with all the toppings. Vegetarian chili is offered as well.

There will be homemade desserts and a free-will donation bake sale. Tickets can be purchased from the Scouts of Crew 1812 or at the door. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children, and children under 5 are free.

All proceeds go to the Scouts to participate in different high adventure activities throughout the year.
