Archery shoot at Rod and Gun Club

ARGYLE - The South Central Wisconsin Archery 3-D shoot will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21, at Argyle Rod and Gun Club on Wisconsin 81, three mile east of Argyle.

Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Darlington

All-you-can-eat benefit Aug. 20

DARLINGTON - An all-you-can-eat spaghetti benefit dinner for Norman Foley will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Bridges Restaurant and Banquet Center, 201 Christensen Dr., Darlington.Foley was recently diagnosed with advanced cancer and will be unable to work due to medical treatments.

The dinner includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, coffee, lemonade and water. Food takeouts will also be available. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for kids 3 to 10.

Soda and alcohol will be sold separately.In addition to the dinner, there will be a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to donate items for auction may drop them off at Firestone GCR - 110 Highway K, Darlington - or call Sharon at (608) 482-0276; or Dorine at (608) 776-2683 for pickup. Monroe

Garden club potluck slated for Aug. 24

MONROE - The Monroe Garden Club will meet for its annual potluck dinner at noon Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Northeast Park.

Attendees should bring a dish to pass. Table service, coffee and lemonade will be furnished.

Madison

Local quilter to attend expo Sept. 8

MADISON - Mary Alice Hart, Monroe, recently had two quilts accepted into the 10-category contest of the 2011 Quilt Expo, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8 to 10 in the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison.

Hart's quilts are titled "ERHS Tiger - Here's Looking at You" and "Tiger Swallowtail."

Contest judges will judge quilts on visual impact and stitching technique and award $500 for first-place, $300 for second-place and $200 for third-place, in each category. The Best of Show winner will receive $1,500, and a Viewers' Choice winner, selected by Quilt Expo attendees, will receive $500.

Brodhead

Grant to support photo project

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Historical Society recently received a grant as part of the Wisconsin Historical Society's 2011 mini-grant program, to support their photo digitization project.

The mini-grant program focused on projects and activities that strengthen a local organization's ability to preserve historical collections and manage the collections and other resources, officials said in a release.
