Lunch Bunch to meet on Monday

DARLINGTON - The Lunch Bunch will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 9 at the Lafayette County Courthouse, 626 Main St., Darlington.

The topic of discussion will be discrepancy of wealth, and it will be presented by John Simonson, a retired UW-Platteville economics professor.

Simonson will discuss how individuals think of wealth, why this is worsening, why/what policies, and "winner take all."

The public is welcome to attend the informal, free session sponsored in part by Lafayette County Home and Community Education, UW-Extension and free-will donations. Participants can bring their lunch during the informal hour.

Health care scholarship apps being accepted

DARLINGTON - The Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Grants and Career Development Committee began accepting applications for the health care scholarships on Sunday, April 1.

Applications for the health care scholarships, which are intended for those pursuing a career in health care, are available on the hospital website.

Qualifications for the scholarship include being a resident of Lafayette County, pursuing a degree in a health care related field, having completed one year of post-secondary education, having a GPA of 3.0 or higher and having not received this award within the last 12 months.

There will be five $1,000 scholarships awarded this year, pending the number of applications and qualifications of the candidates. The final awards will be determined by the MHF Grants and Career Development Committee.
