South Pole topic of meeting April 19

ALBANY - "Life at the South Pole" is the topic for the Tuesday, April 19 meeting of the Albany Historical Society meeting.

Dennis Duling of Albany will be the guest speaker. A short business meeting at 7 p.m. will precede Duling's program.

Duling will talk about living and working in the Antarctica summer. He works for the UW-Madison and recently returned from Antarctica after working with researchers on "Project Ice Cube." This was his 11th trip to the continent.

Brodhead

"Hair Cut-A-Thon" benefit set April 16

BRODHEAD - LG&D Salon in Brodhead will host its second annual "Hair Cut-A-Thon" to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital Saturday, April 16.

The salon will offer free hair cuts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for men, women and children. Donations will be accept for St. Jude's. Appointments are not needed.

Monroe

Fundraiser dinner for Cystic Fibrosis

MONROE - A fundraiser for cystic fibrosis will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 18 at Pizza Hut in Monroe.

The cost for dinner is $7.99 for adults. Of that, $2 will go to the cystic fibrosis research.
