Mid-West Dairymen's Company, Rockford, Ill., awarded $1,000 scholarships to Elecia Walter of Elizabeth, Ill., and Serena Lawfer of Kent, Ill., and $500 scholarships to Amber Boeke, Juda, and Laura Lyford, Davis, Ill.
Boeke attends University of Wisconsin-Platteville where she is majoring in animal science with a dairy emphasis and a minor in agribusiness. She graduated first in her high school class. She was active in FFA and a 4-H member, where she held the offices of parliamentarian, secretary and president in FFA, the offices of secretary and president in her 4-H club and was involved with the Pioneer Dairy Club, Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association, and the dairy judging team. In college, she is a member of the collegiate FFA and an academic honors fraternity. While attending school full-time, she works at a local dairy farm doing daily chores.
Lyford attends University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a major in dairy science and a minor in agribusiness. She was an honor roll student, an active member of 4-H and FFA chapters, Illinois Junior Holstein Club and the Stephenson County Holstein Club.
Lawfer is an animal science major currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in chemistry. She has been involved in Collegiate FFA, Agriculture Student Council, Pre-Veterinary Club, Sigma Alpha Sorority, and honors societies.
Walter attends Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind., pursuing a major in business administration and business marketing.
She has worked on the family dairy farm, worked summers as a farm hand on a horse ranch and did seasonal work at an area winery.
