JANESVILLE — The Blackhawk Technical College Board Appointment Committee met Feb. 11 and Monday, April 15 to conduct public hearings and Appointment Committee meetings to fill three vacancies on the BTC Board. 

The Appointment Committee for the Blackhawk Technical College District Board is comprised of Rock County and Green County Board chairpersons, the two counties that comprise the Blackhawk District. Rock County Board Chairperson Russ Podzilni serves as chairperson of the committee, the other member is Art Carter, Green County Board chairperson.

The Committee reappointed incumbents Barbara Barrington-Tillman, Janesville, in the Employer Member category, and Laverne Hays, Orfordville, in the Additional Member category, and newcomer Richard Deprez, Monroe, in the Employee Member category. 

Barbara Barrington-Tillman is Chief Deputy of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office in Janesville. 

Her original appointment to the Board was in 2010. Laverne Hays is retired from the profession of Mechanical Drafter. 

His original appointment was in 2013. Richard Deprez is a Network Consultant at TDS Telecom, in Madison. 

Board members are sworn in at the annual meeting on the second Monday in July and are subject to confirmation by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board. The three-year terms begin July 1, 2019, and end June 30, 2022.
