Green County Leaders is a program designed to help build community leadership. Green County Leaders runs from September to May. It focuses on leadership skills, networking, and learning about community issues. This iteration of the program has been in Green County for 23 years and has 494 alumni.
In the 2024-2025 course, participants met over 100 community leaders and toured 19 sites in 7 Green County communities. Sessions provided opportunities to connect with community leaders sharing how they apply and hone leadership skills. Additionally, participants learned about opportunities to lean into exploring community issues. The program includes a number of unique experiences, including community projects, First Impressions, community awareness activities, and an intentional visit to the Wisconsin capitol.
Sessions focus on building community leadership skills and raising awareness of community issues, including local government, economic development, natural resources, creativity, non-profits, civic engagement, deliberative dialogue, and more. Green County Leaders is made possible by a partnership between UW-Madison Division of Extension Green County and Green County Development Corporation, with strong support from community organizations and businesses.
