MONROE — The annual Mark Mueller Punt, Throw, Kick fundraiser was held Feb. 9 at T.R. Holyoke Field. The event raises money for the Mark Mueller Memorial Scholarship, given to chosen Monroe High School graduates to help pay for higher education.

The fund and event is put on by volunteers and friends of the late Mark Mueller, a 2001 MHS grad who died unexpectedly as a student at UW-Madison.

Between donations and silent auction raffle prizes, organizers were optimistic the event was a success yet again.

“We are looking to be able to continue to provide another healthy year of scholarships to local students from our proceeds from the event and our generous sponsors,” said Eric Jubeck, Monroe Athletic Director, event organizer and friend of Mueller.

Peyton Herbst set a new record in the contest, with a combined distance of 421 for his throw, punt and kick off of a tee. Jubeck said there were 33 participants in all, ranging from age 4 through adults. Contestants were separated into categories based on age and gender. Jubeck said $700 worth of prizes were donated and handed out to winners.
