DARLINGTON - The seventh annual Lafayette Manor Auxiliary Cookout will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lafayette Manor, 719 E. Catherine St., Darlington, serving burgers, brats and other goodies.
The cookout will bring together people from all over Lafayette County for an evening of food, local musicians, gift basket raffles, door prizes and a chance to celebrate the work of the Lafayette Manor and its current 55 residents.
The annual cookout proceeds go directly for resident benefits. In the past year, the auxiliary purchased three new leather furniture pieces for the sun room, two large-screen televisions, six oak dining chairs, new cushions for the glider rockers and braided placemats, all from Main Furniture and Home in Darlington. Owner Alana Black and staff member Debbie Loken selected the items specifically for the Manor sun room to create a warm and cozy atmosphere for residents and their families to enjoy. Community members are encouraged to stop inside during the cookout and see the additions.
The Lafayette Manor provides skilled nursing care for its residents and employs approximately 80 individuals. It allows for family members of residents to continue working, raise their own families and still visit whenever possible. The doors are always open.
Through the donations of individuals throughout the county, the annual cookout has always been a success. Anyone interested in helping with this year's event may contact Mary Knellwolf at 608-776-2226 or leave a message. Everyone is welcome to be part of the Lafayette Manor Auxiliary.
