Annual dairy management seminar set for Jan. 8

MONROE - The Green County Milk Quality Council, in cooperation with University of Wisconsin-Extension, will be sponsoring its 27th Annual Green County Dairy Management Seminar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th St.

The featured speakers include Dr. David Kammel, University of Wisconsin ag engineer; Larry Tranel, dairy specialist with Iowa State University; and Dr. Randy Shaver and Dr. Heather White, from the U.W. Dairy Science Department.

Kammel will discuss the design and layout of robotic milking systems; Tranel will discuss the economics of robotic milking systems; Shaver and White will discuss feeding transition cows and using snaplage in dairy rations.

Due to sponsorships by many local businesses, the advance registration fee is $5 and includes lunch. Registrations are due to the Green County UW-Extension Office by Jan. 5. An additional $3 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date. Enrollment is limited to the first 65 participants who register.
