Mr. and Mrs. Orville Swanson, former area residents, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sept. 8, 2009.
The former Dorothy Collins and Orville Swanson were married in 1954 at the Wiota Lutheran Church Parsonage near Woodford with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Meier as attendants.
After farming in the South Wayne area for 18 years, then moving to Arizona, Mr. and Mrs. Swanson later relocated to Central Kentucky and in 2002 retired to Murray, Ky.
Their daughter Julie and grandsons Adrian and Ethan reside in Arizona.
Their son Edward lives in Murray, where he is employed by Briggs & Stratton Corporation.
