DARLINGTON - The members of Rural Medical Ambulance Service will be hosting an open house and picnic in honor of National EMS Appreciation Week from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 127 E. Louisa St., Darlington.
Members of the community are encouraged to attend and help RMAS raise funds for equipment and training.
The meal will include burgers, brats, chips and salad. There is no cost for the meal, but donations will be accepted. RMAS is raising funds to purchase mechanical CPR devices, which are machines that provide chest compressions during sudden cardiac arrest rescue calls.
The University of Wisconsin Med Flight Helicopter will be landing near the station to help celebrate. The public may approach the helicopter and crew to ask questions and learn more about their service. In addition, RMAS' new ambulance will be on display for the public to view. Representatives from Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County also will be present with information and blood pressure checks.
