MONROE - The 2014 Alzheimer's Walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Behring Senior Center, 1113 10th St., Monroe. The walk will benefit the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.
Honorary family chairperson will be Mary Coppens, owner of Mary's Unique Boutique, New Glarus, who will share her experience with her mother's dementia and the importance of reaching out for support. Sarah Endicott, a geriatric nurse practitioner with Monroe Clinic, is the honorary medical chairperson and will also provide a message on the importance of early diagnosis.
Last year, Green County Alzheimer's Walk raised more than $40,000. Funds ensure that the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance continue to provide programs and services to the community. Participation also raises awareness by encouraging people to seek an accurate and early diagnosis. All funds raised stay in Wisconsin.
