Albany Historical Society meeting
Community Brief

ALBANY — The Albany Historical Society will present a program about the 1986-87 archaeological dig at the site of the 1832 Jules De Mun trading post at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

The trading post was located along the Sugar River between present day Albany and Brodhead.

Located on a bluff overlooking the river, the recently established trading post was burned to the ground during the 1832 Blackhawk War. The trading post dig was carried out by archaeologists from the Wisconsin State Archaeological Society along with local volunteers.

The program will feature an array of trade items and various other artifacts that were unearthed during the dig.

The Albany Historical Society museum is located at 119 North Water Street in Albany.

The program will be preceded by a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission.
