MADISON - Last fall, the senior social studies class at Albany High School visited the State Capitol and met with state legislators Jon Erpenbach and Janis Ringhand, as part of learning all levels of government throughout the school year.
During their visit, the class sat in on a session of oral arguments at the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.
Recently, students chose a topic that they were concerned about and wrote to an elected official about the issue. Letters were sent to state legislators, members of the U.S. Congress, and even President Barack Obama. Students are now waiting for replies from the officials.
The senior social studies class is designed to teach students how to become involved citizens with an understanding of how our government functions.
