Aebly descendants gather for reunion

MONROE - The 67th annual Aebly Reunion, descendants of the Henry and Columbina (Altmann) Aebly family, was held Aug. 17 at Northeast Park in Monroe. Hosts were Gary and Valerie Aebly, Monroe, the family of the late Casper (Cap) Aebly.

Seventy-eight people attended from the Wisconsin communities of DePere, Madison, Sun Prairie, South Wayne, Cuba City, Sauk City, Monroe, Monticello and Wiota, and from Duluth, Minn.

Three new births were added to the record. They are:

• Camyrn Marie Hendrickson, born on December 20, 2007, to Craig and Kia (Jorgenson) Hendrickson, Cuba City. Grandparents are Dean and Chris (Yeazel) Jorgenson, South Wayne. The great-grandparents were the late Ralph and Mildred (Bloom) Yeazel.

• Ty Adam Kundert, born on March 11, 2008, to Matthew and Becky Kundert, Poynette. Grandparents are Duane and Beth (Bloom) Kundert, Blanchardville.

• Kenadi Cleo Kundert, was born on May 3, 2008, to Ross and Erica Kundert, Mt. Horeb. Grandparents are Duane and Beth (Bloom) Kundert, Blanchardville.

Eric and Lisa Kubly were married on July 12, 2008 at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe. Parents are Duane and Kathy Kubly, and grandparents are Leona Kubly, all of Monroe, and the late Ray Kubly. Scott and Rachel Aebly were married in Monroe on Sept. 15, 2007. Parents are Gary and Valerie Aebly and grandparents are Doris Aebly, all of Monroe, and the late Cap Aebly. Charla Gempeler, wife of Mark Gempeler of Waukesha, died August 15, 2008.

The oldest lady attending was Leona Kubly, Monroe, 90 years. The oldest man attending was Gene Snyder, 81 years, Monroe.

The youngest girl was Camyrn Hendrickson, 8 month old daughter of Craig and Kia Hendrickson, Cuba City. The youngest boy attending was Cash Anderson, 3 1/2 year old son of Richard and Tammy Anderson, Monroe.

Coming the shortest distance was Marian Sacker, Monroe, and Cody Wekseth, friend of Sarah Kolonko, came the longest distance, from Duluth, Minn.

Celebrating birthdays were: Jane Gempeler, Phoenix, Ariz., Terry Yeazel, Sun Prairie, Janet (Kubly) Hauri, Monroe, and David Dwyer, Madison, all 70 years old; Rob Lennon, DePere, 50; Paul Hauri, 50; Kathy Kubly, Monroe, 55; Harvey Kubly, Monticello, 60; and Mike Aebly, Madison, celebrated his 51st birthday the day of the reunion.

Roger and Eileen Kubly, Monroe, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Door prizes went to Camyrn Hendrickson, daughter of Craig and Kia Hendrickson, Cuba City, for being the youngest person attending. She received a little T-shirt that said "Baby Swiss" on it. Her Grandpa, Dean Jorgenson of South Wayne, received the other door prize that said "Aged Swiss."

The Aebly Heritage Cookbook is still being worked on, and hopefully will be ready by next year's reunion. The next reunion will be on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at Northeast Park Hosts will be the Columbina (Aebly) Kubly family.
