ORANGEVILLE — The Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater in Orangeville is starting its 2019 season with the show, “A Night in the Theater.”

Written by Lawrence Casler, this is a play about the worst people you can sit next to during a show.

Margaret and Stanley Locker and their friends, Donna and Walter Pace, are at the theatre for their weekly dose of culture. This week’s ordeal is Hamlet.

After they seat themselves with some confusion, the play consists of their incessant and hilarious chatter about themselves, their children, a dead friend and even occasionally Shakespeare’s play. Secrets emerge and friendships unravel amid the audiences’ laughter.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16.  The performance on Sunday will be at 2 p.m. March 16. Doors open a half hour before the show begins.

Performances include a dessert and hot apple cider, all served in the atmosphere of the theater which is located in Orangeville’s historic Masonic building, 203 W. High St. The building has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Contact the theater at 815-819-1310 or email mightyrichlndplayers@gmail.com for reservations and questions. Check out MRPDT’s website at mightyrichlandplayers.org.
