6 students receive Breadon scholarships

MONROE - On behalf of the Green County Medical Society, Dr. George Breadon, M.D., FACS, treasurer, recently presented six $500 scholarships, from the Gavin Breadon Memorial Scholarship Fund, to Green County medical students.

Those receiving scholarships included:

• Chris Kleppe, son of Gary and Debra Kleppe, is a 2001 graduate of Monroe High School and a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006 with a double major in genetics and bacteriology, followed by an masters in 2007 in physiology and biophysiology from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He has just completed his freshman year at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University, Illinois.

• Lindsey Runaas, daughter of Jim and Georgia Runaas, Albany. She is a 2002 graduate of Albany High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Ithaca College, New York in 2006, and she has just completed her junior year at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.

• Ravi Patel, son of Vasudev and Bhavana Patel, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School, a graduate of Notre Dame University with a degree in biological sciences in 2007 and he has just completed his sophomore year at University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

• John Cappel, son of Denis and Barbara Cappel, Monroe, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School and a 2007 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in biomedical engineering. He has just completed his sophomore year at Penn State Medical School, Hershey, Pa.

• Bryan Simmons, son of Lyle and Eunice Simmons, Menominee, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School and a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in chemistry and biochemistry in 2007. He has just completed his sophomore year at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C.

• Carlee Zeal, daughter of Thomas and Christine Zeal, New Glarus, is a 2004 graduate of Monroe High School and a 2008 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor of science degree in natural sciences. She has just completed her freshman year at University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.
