4-H youth participate in Communications Contest

MONROE — Green County 4-H held its annual Communications Contest Feb. 23 at the Green County Justice Center. This contest was open to all countywide 4-H members in grades 5K through one year past high school.

Presenting or speaking before a group or audience is an important life skill to develop. The goal of the Green County 4-H Communications Contest is to give 4-H youth an opportunity to develop and polish these skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Youth were eligible to submit one entry in each of three divisions: Speaking Division (prose/poetry or traditional speech); Demonstration Division (individual or team demonstration); and Non-Verbal Communication Division (poster, scrapbook, video/computer presentation, or promotional display).

This year’s participants were Mickaelynn Andrews (Washington Center), Abigail Biank (New Glarus), Benjamin Biank (New Glarus), Esther Biank (New Glarus), Jonathan Biank (New Glarus), Chase Huschitt (Clarno), Heath Huschitt (Clarno), Noah Kruse (Next Generation), Tess Lange (Young Americans), Caden Maire (Jolly Mixers), Michelangelo O’Brien (New Glarus), Madalyn Stephenson (Decatur), Marissa Vosberg (Young Americans), Halee Williams (Decatur), Mason Williams (Decatur), Michael Williams (Decatur) and Samantha Williams (Decatur).

4-H participants were evaluated and provided constructive feedback on their presentation, each receiving a certificate of participation and a participation ribbon (grades 5K-2) or ribbon placing (grades 3 through one year past high school). Demonstration project members were judged for Green County Fair placing and received a Green County Fair ribbon.
